  • PopAffiliator program

The PopAffiliator is a free online program that calculates the percentage of your ancestry into 3 catagories, Asian/Eurasian/sub-Saharan African. It uses 17 autosomal str genotype (codis markers) you submit. You can use the str data from FTDNA autosomal panals 1 & 2, or the str profiles used in the DNATribes test or the DNA Consultant's Fingerprint test. http://cracs.fc.up.pt/popaffiliator/

      Codis dna

This is the same DNA tests used in paternity tests and criminal investigation. I don't know how it is listed in FTDNA, but you can just look for the loci CSF1PO D2S1338 D3S1358 D5S818 D7S820 D8S1179 D13S317 D16S539 D18S51 D19S433 D21S11 FGA PENTA_D PENTA_E TH01 TPOX VWA in your results and enter those. You do not need all of them. In my paternity results there was no Penta D or E but I still got results from the test. I came up 98.5% Eurasian and 1.5% Asian. I look as white as they come, y-dna is atlantic modal, I don't think there is an Asian in me, and my son, who actually is half Asian, came up 25% Eurasian 75% Asian so go figure.

        PopAffiliator results clairification

To clairify my original post; the PopAffiliator program does not give percentages of ancestry. It gives you, in percentage, the probability of your having ancestry each of the 3 major population groups.

It is not listed in Family Finder. It is a different test so there is no reason to try looking for those values in the FF raw data.

I hate being ignorant, but I cannot determine what needs to be entered and where. Could you explain?

            Thanks,
            Davida

It wants you to enter your paternity/siblingship test results. If you have not had one of those tests you will not know your results.

You can see what these tests are by reading more on this website:

Family Finder uses SNPs and this test uses STRs.
