  • What's next?? Deep Clade finished

Hum, . . . wondering what is next - noticed the change on my Haplotree page that no tests are pending and these are the results:

    I1*, L22- M21- M227- M253+ M72- P109- P259-

. . . was hoping there would be more detail further into the tree. Am I in purgatory??

Noticed the yDNA Haplogroup I: Subclade I1 list me as --> Unclassified (need L22 or DYS462 test and/or more markers).

The advanced tests has the DYS462. Do I have to get the entire panel - wondering the expense and will the testing be worthwhile.

The project page will be updated when the Admin sees your Deep Clade I results have posted.

You can always shoot off a quick e-mail telling him that your results are complete.

BTW, do you have more than 55 markers? That is all that is listed at y-search.

        Just checked - I've been moved to the I1 Anglo-Saxon Generic. Hum, . . . doesn't sound very exciting.

Not sure about the 55 markers, as it seems my DYS values were added automatically. I'll try and figure that one out when I've had some rest. Thanks.

You have to "add" your markers to y-search again.

          They are never "automatic".

Don't be too worried about being I1-AS Generic - we are a large and proud bunch.

Some of the best noted I1 men doing research are in the generic category.

By the way, be sure to copy and paste your values from the bottom of your "Haplotree" diagram that show which SNPs were tested and their positive / negative status. There is a place to add information at the bottom of your y-search page. Just remember to save all additions and changes.

You are now officailly in I1*-ASgeneric purgatory.

Since you have done the Deep Clade Test and 67-markers, testing additional STRs would be unlikely to change your place in the tree (subclade). You will just have to wait for more SNPs to be discovered.

If you feel like testing more, you may want to test some of the nine SMGF markers that aren't part of FTDNA's 67. Most useful would be DYS462, DYS461, DYS463, DYS441, DYS635/C4. These markers can be included in ySearch and SMGF searches.

To see these markers, look at the right-most columns, of the following modal haplotypes table:

Thanks for the info. Have "manually" added the additional markers on my Ysearch account. Much appreciated.

That individual (XEDRS) showed up this afternoon while playing with ySearch - rather close - so it seems. At this point I don't understand the science - will need some reference books on the subject.
