I am H1c and have no FGS matches. Hopefully a new subclade will eventually be created.

I have an accession number. My submission hasn't yet been processed and recorded. I found out today that GenBank has had a lot of submissions and are working on the backlog. I guess a lot of FTDNA FGS customers did submit theirs to GenBank afterall, but I'm the only person posting about it.

My mtDNA haplogroup is rare. FTDNA assesses me as plain I, but following the FGS analysis I obtained from Ann Turner, I submitted my data to GenBank and I alerted also Mannis van Oven (who maintains the PhyloTree) to an observation by Ann and he responded thus: "I had a detailed look at your sequence and you are definitely I3, no doubt about it. Because your sequence lacks 16086, I will remove this mutation from the defining motif of I3. You will see this update in the next PhyloTree Build."

So, my FGS data was of some use to the boffins.

I don't know the answer to that. I'll have to wait and see what he does in the next build. However, I can say that FTDNA currently does not use the PhyloTree scheme in determining mtDNA haplogroup. As with Y-DNA nomenclature (until it adopts ISOGG) seems FTDNA is behind the action. So, I would not expect any regrading by FTDNA on the basis of what Mannis does.

I can't say for sure, but I wrote to him direct about my situation because I wanted a second opinion, and he agreed with Ann's observation.

From memory, mine appeared online about 6 weeks after Ian Logan submitted it. I'm told it's quite a bureaucracy so they get around to things in their own time.

Oh ok, thanks for telling me. I think I can bear up for six weeks.
I did email them the other day, to ask them a bunch of questions. So far I found out that they will email a copy of the flatfile when it is available. When the automated message said they would mail it to me, I assumed they meant hard copy/papers thru regular mail- and that they would send it to FTDNA in Texas, because only their address is in the file I sent (using Ian Logan's DIY) - so I emailed GenBank, asking them to send it to me.

Wait a month or two and then look it up on GenBank.

Bear in mind that GenBank is not designed to be a family finder tool. It's a huge database of genetic data for use by medical and scientific researchers. By making a GenBank submission, you have donated your results to science.

However, you can use the BLAST tool to see if, and how many, other donors you match with. Note that donors may be anonymous by submitting via a proxy such as Bennett Greenspan.

I used Ian Logan's DIY submission tool, which automatically put "B. Greenspan" as the author in my flatfile.
The release date is June 26, 2010.

I submitted my mtDNA full sequence via new submission instructions. I wondered if they have a Y counterpart or is it a mtDNA study only?

To mt or not to mt

I was thinking about taking the mt 67 test but I don't see many people posting about it here. Should I take the test or has the FF test pushed that test aside? Thoughts anyone are there still more pro's than con's to taking this test even though FF has come along?
