  • Why is that my FTDNA matches page

only go up to 37 markers and only report the exact matches? And not any 1 step or 2 step matches?

All I get is an exact 37 match.......

Shouldn't it be reporting beyond just 37/37???

Under the Y-DNA section, when I click on Matches I see 4 headings labeled: 12 Marker, 25 Marker, 37 Marker and 67 Marker. I have zero matches under any of those, which is normal for me.

When I click on Ancestral Origins, I see 4 headings thus: 12 Marker Y-DNA matches, 25 Marker Y-DNA matches, 37 Marker Y-DNA matches, 67 Marker Y-DNA matches. I have zero matches under any of those, and that is not normal -- there is something wrong with the Ancestral Origins section at the moment.

      I tested 37

I first got back my first twelve markers. I matched up to 10 or 12 others but different surname. Which means I related but back before the use of last names. Then the results from the first 25 markers came back and I had no matches. The more markers you test the cleaner the results, meaning the random matches will fall away. Than I got the results for all 37 markers and I had no matches. Sound like something wrong if you did not match at 12 or 25 but did match at 37. You should have matches at 12 and 25 if you have matched 37 out of 37 markers with someone.

        I know this,

But I don't have anything listed beyond 37/37 (I have one exact match of a variant surname), but nothing like 36/37 or 34/37.....

When I know there has to be some, I found a few on ysearch.org,

I could be wrong but I don't think Y-search is just FTDNA. It could be from another lab. Did you try making contact with the others? Does the others you matched up with at Y-search show they tested at FTDNA? I matched up close with 3 Lee's at Ancestry I'm a Hill. I think someone told me "you can manually type in your results at Ancestry." Have you tried that? You could even have more matches. Also you might want to contacted FTDNA.

Although Ysearch is operated by FTDNA, it's a public database and anybody can put data into it, so your matches on it are not necessarily FTDNA customers.

Have you checked how your configurations are set?

On the left side of your FTDNA page you'll find My Account. Under that heading is a selection for Preferences. Click that. On the next page you will find a section that let's you pick which matches are displayed.

That might not be the problem but I'd check that first.
