Hello,
My father's Ydna has no matches in any of the Ydata bases suggested by posters. We have one exact match,(in our May family surname project) but the participant knows nothing of his genealogy. Our haplogroup has been suggested as J2. I am expecting the results of the SNP test very soon. My questions are: How does the SNP test work? If indeed we are J2, will it be able to narrow down the type of J2? That is to say, what the country of origin is for our YDNA? We have also been told that we have a "rare" haplogroup, or maybe it's "haplotype". What exactly does that mean???
