Help with study of DNA tests?

Hello,

Would any of you be willing to help me with a study of genetic genealogy testing? I teach sociology at the University of British Columbia and I'm very interested in the experiences of people who have taken DNA ancestry tests, especially if the results have an effect on people's lives. I'm hosting an online survey – it's anonymous and should only take about 10-15 minutes.

At the very end it asks you if you'd be willing to be contacted for a follow-up interview (which offers $40 for participating), and if you say yes it asks for contact information so we can reach you. But it's fine to say you're not interested in the follow-up interview.

As someone who does survey research, please don't include erroneous information - much better to just leave questions unanswered. Otherwise, you can really screw up a legitimate researcher's very hard work. (Rainbow, forgive me for assuming that you are NOT a 93 year old widower from Wyoming. If you are, my sincerest apologies.)

Hello Wendy and Vinnie,
No, I am not a 93 year-old widower from Wyoming. I wanted to see the survey, was happy that there was one. I've never seen a survey on DNA tests before, not counting the polls on dna-forums. I wanted to look at the questions first but found that I had to answer a few to see the others. Maybe it was because I was on a web-capable cellphone? It's a very small screen. Just one page of a ftdna thread could be 3 to 7 pages on a phone. I was hestitant about puting my personal info in a survey. But instead of dropping it and not looking at the rest of the survey I decided to put something, any answer from the multiple choices, just to see what the other questions would be. I put male and 93 and Wyoming and has bachelors degree etc and then kind of went with that and answered the questions as if I was an elderly male. I never had a YDNA test.
At first it was out of curiousity, and then it became fun. I'm sorry. Please omit my submitted survey from your statistics (unless I was inadvertantly "channeling" a 93 year-old?).

edit: I just looked at the link on a regular screen. It is the same as it was before. If would like to see another survey where all the questions are visible at once, and have more in-depth questions about DNATribes and admixture testing. And make the personal info (asl) questions optional.

I have filled out the survey. Glad to help in your research. After my dna from family tree I spoke to my cousins from North Carolina and they were also highly interested in my findings considering that through my dna I was hooked to a family tree posting that could lead to my grandfather whom may have been an orphan. None of us knew anything about him since he passed when my dad was about 10. I also found from my cousins that through these tests I would not find any native american because my grandmother was the one with native american and she was from south carolina part cherokee and supposed link to an extict native american nation.
