Haplogroup I

Can anyone help me with understanding more about this group. I am new at this and not quite getting it. I had my last Aunt alive to do the maternal test to see if there was Native American Indian as everyone prior informed me and it looks like there isnt.

You're talking about mtdna I, then. It is present in Europe, and it seems to be quite ancient there. Interestingly, some analyses of medieval European DNA have actually uncovered more I mtdna than we see nowadays.

Other than that, I cannot think of any specific scientific paper on haplogroup I.
As you say, it is not found in Native Americans.
