No Haplogroup match found ?

Hello,

My name is Cindy and I am new to the forum. I am posting this question for my friend who just ran a MTDNA test through Ancestry.com and it came back no match to any Haplogroup! I was wondering if anyone has ever heard of this before?

Everyone I have tested on FTDNA and Genographic have always returned a result.

It happens. Haplogroup classification is a work-in-progress. But if you post the "mutations" someone on this forum might hazzard an opinion.

TomKat suggested I post my friend's results from Ancestry and maybe someone on the forum could figure out her Haplogroup. Well, here we go and it is not much:

This sequence is probably the most frequent in Europe, and on mitosearch there could be more than a thousand matches. Very likely, it is H. (There is a tiny chance that it is HV instead). It is not possible to say which subgroup of H, the mutations defining subhaplogroups of H are in the coding region, ie not in the region tested (which is called HVR).

Essentially, this sequence has no special mutations. Pretty much everybody has 263 and 315.1 (it is CRS that has mutations there), and 16519 is very frequent in all haplogroups.

Although your friend received no haplogroup assignment she does have potential matches as Mitosearch list 1430 users in Haplogroup: Unknown.
