I think my concern about SMGF not posting results that people participate to get a free DNA analysis ( I have results from FTDNA). SMGF then takes over 19 months to post results. They entice people to pay money in order to get thier results in a timely manner from Genetree. I think it is deceptive. Their database is huge due to the fact that people see a win win situation for both SMGF and themselves. Now SMGF and now Genetree are the ones that get the most out of it. I am suspicious that they are purposely not posting the results so that people pay Genetree instead. That is how they end up making money.

Cats, I posted my uncles test to SMGF in Oct 2006.
I have an account at Genetree for my mtDNA tested at FTDNA. Last week I did a surname search and found my uncles mtDNA was listed.
I just have to wait for the SMGF update to see the results, as I cant transfer his results to Genetree.
Hang in there, they will have to update soon.

I have a friend who sent them a sample in Nov. 2006. His mtDNA results have been posted for some time. I do know they haven't updated their database since Jan. 28, 2008.

If GeneTree can see the results they must be in SMGF's database which means you should be able to find them also.

If you'll e-mail the ancestor information you sent them I'll see if I can find your results. [email protected]

From what I understand Genetree can not see the results. They have to request them from SMGF. GeneTree told me it would take a few weeks.

SMGF told me that if I got a letter from Gentree means that there was no problem with SMGF extracting my DNA. They told me that Gentree will have access to the reocrds before SMGF posts them. They did tell me they were way behind and had this big batch of results that will be uploaded and available soon. She may be in that batch.

Has anyone who tested MtDNA at SMGF, within the last 18 months or so, seen their results posted on the SMGF website before paying for them on Genetree? I am very suspicious that my mother's results will not be posted until I pay the Genetree fee and that upsets me. I know the results are available at Genetree and have been for months. Her DNA was submitted to SMGF at least 18 months ago and still no results posted on the site. I wrote to SMGF 3 months ago and they told me it takes awhile for them to post results on their site as they do not charge but since Genetree charges they can do it quicker than SMGF. Any thoughts?

Just spoke with SMGF the other day. They said they were behind in posting results but have a big batch that will be posted soon. Just keep checking their web
