Could these tests prove my relationship with my deceased grandfather if I test with my uncle(grandgather's son)? If so which test would be most recommended? Thank for any replies.

If this is your paternal grandfather you are talking about, then then one test would be Y-DNA marker test. You probably would want to take a 37 marker test. If you have a very close match with your uncle then it will indicate that you are closely related
- but strictly speaking it won't prove you are related specifically through your grandfather.
- an example of what I mean is the DNA testing of the suspected descendants of Thomas Jeffersons - the tests prove they are related, but the "descendants" might have equally been from a very close male relative of Thomas Jefferson (rather than Thomas Jefferson himself).
If you and your uncles results don't match at all, then you can be pretty well sure that your grandfather wasn't the same man as your uncles father.
If your relationship to your grandfather is through your mother, then sorry, unfortunately none of the tests will help (mtDNA is inherited from mothers only, - so your mtDNA won't be the same as your grandfathers).

Re: Re: Proving relations
Angela,
Thank you for the reply. You guessed right, the relationship is through my mother. My grandmother told my mom that what she thought was her biological father really wasn't. My grandmother's motives are suspect, so I was trying to find a way to determine the truth. Thanks.
