note that also the basic mtdna test (HVR1) will tell you whether you have native american ancestry on your maternal line. Native Americans belong to mtdna haplogroup A, B, C, D, and sometimes X, and that can be discovered also by the basic test. The full mtdna will give you much more information, potentially saying something more specific about the origin.

I had my mtdna test done thru the Genographic Project two years ago. It was just $99 plus tax or something and came to about $107.
If you get your maternal line (mtdna) done it will only show mothers mothers mothers mothers mothers etc female dna. If you have Native American dna from a mothers mothers father, the mtdna won't be the best for that.
The test I think you are looking for, to see if there is any Native American, is called an admixture test and I had that done too, thru www.ancestrybydna.com , two years ago. It's the 2.5 test. Two years ago it was approximately $200, I think. I think the prices probably went up since then.
