I just got my DNA Tribes report. I’m born and live in Singapore. My father (deceased) is an adopted child. My mother is a Chinese from China. I need help to interpret my results to understand my ancestor history.

Teo,

It's pretty much all explained on the first pages of your report. Do you have a specific question?

In general, you are twice as likely to have ancestry in Northeast China than anywhere else. Of course you can't tell if that's matching your father, your mother, or both. But if you know where in China your mother is from, you can deduce it from that.

Northeast China

Of the 3, Native, Global, and World, the first one, Native, is supposed to be the most accurrate. Disregard the Global and World.
Native: Northeast China
Global: Northeast China
World: Japanese

I've had mine done and had updates. My World changed drastically with each update. Global is just 'diaspora'. The Native is most accurate, especially for deep ancestry.

Your scores are pretty high, over a hundred.

If your father was a non-Chinese, maybe an American of Native American ancestry, then it wouldn't show uo in the DNATribes test. In my AncestryByDna I scored 17% Native American, but DNATribes did not give me any Native American matches. There is another person, haplogroupc, who got 60% Native American on his/her AncestryByDna, but no Amerind matches either.

I know I am mostly British. My top Native is Portugal in the original and all updates, but none of my ancestors came from there. Portugal (Celtic iberian) is the 'deep ancestry' of most British people. DNATribes doesn't have an "England" category. All my DNATribes matches are pretty low. I have nothing in the hundreds.

I would like to know more about my Paternal ancestry (my father is an adopted child, deceased 1982).
My maternal ancestry is from Hui’an County, Fujian province, China.

Teo,

I don't see any definition of the area "Northeast China" on the DNA Tribes site, so I suggest you e-mail DNA Tribes and ask.

To investigate paternal ancestry, you might as well just concentrate on Y-DNA.

You always have to doublecheck what you read on Wikipedia, but there is a lot of information about O1 there: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haplogroup_O1_(Y-DNA)

My last report was August 5, 2007. New updates from DNA Tribes expected within the next week on all panels!

I got Native Romania 1,113.42 (I have no known ancestry from Romania)

It's interesting that ksteosin got Japanese as a top score in the World region. I wonder if one of his ancestors was part of the Japanese migrations into China.

You may be right. My MT-DNA is Haplogroup B Native American from the Rio Grande. My DNA matches also Japan. I also have a marker on my X test that seems to be very rare. It is on my maternal side. Marker DXS8377 # 58. Seems to show up in Korea and in very low % in finland. They are finding haplogroup B in small % in Finland. Vikings may have brought NA women back with them. I have found people with a combo of NA on MT-DNA and Viking on Y-dna. Just a thought

I contacted DNA Tribes, below was their reply. Nothing much but just "North Chinese genetic region".

Thank you for contacting us regarding your analysis. Our test results identify the places where a person's total combination of DNA inherited from both paternal and maternal ancestors is most common. Because these genetic markers are passed down independently on several chromosomes, it is necessary to test at least one parent to distinguish maternal from paternal ancestry.

Results indicate your own DNA is most common in the North Chinese genetic region. This suggests a more northerly origin for your father's ancestors, but can also reflect some more northern-typical genetic material inherited through your mother's side as well.
