    Not enough dna.

Just got off the phone with Linda Franklin. She said that the new Euro 2.0 kits sent out from now on will have 3 swabs in it. There just isn't enough dna on the 2 swabs becasue they use so many markers. So I and about 69 others are going to have to start all over again.

Yes it is pretty amazing. I do think that autosomal testing is going to have great potential within a few more years. I mean even EURO DNA 2.0 is a great step forward. My two new swabs are now at their lab so hopefully now they will have enough of my DNA to test!

I am predicting that I will be about half Southeastern European and the other half will be comprised most likely as a mixture between Continental European and Northeastern European. I may be wrong but this is what I am guessing.

            6 weeks or 3 mos...

I already had my 2 orginal swabs sent in about 6 weeks before they sent me the 2 extra swabs. Since my father was very ill and then passed away I never sent them in till yesterday. I was told 3 monthes to get results back. But will the 6 weeks be taken off the 3 monthes or will it be a full 3 monthes. I guess I need to talk to Linda.

              What is my admixture?

My Euro 1.0 states 47% Northern Europe. 23% Middle Eastern. 23% South Asian. 7% Southestern Europe. So I do not know how this catagories will translate into the Euro 2.0. I see that Euro 2.0 does not have a Middle Eastern or South Asian catagory. It has :1. Southeastern Europe(Armenian, Jewish, Italian and Greek) 2. Iberian ( Spanish and Portuguese) 3. Basque ( Spanish/French Pyrenees border) 4. Continental Europe (German, Irish, English, Netherlands, French, Swiss and some Italian) 5. Northeastern Europe (Polish, Baltic, Swedish, Norwegian, Finnish, Russian). Will be interesting to see what catagories and percentages I get! My heritage that I know of for the last 400 years so far has been Amerindian, Irish, English, Scottish, Welsh, German, French ect. Before 1600 is all of the above except Amerindian plus some other countries that aren't verified. So who knows what my admixture will be. I predict at least Continental Europe and who knows what else!

Very interesting stuff Maria. Strange how you have such high Middle Eastern and South Asian scores eh? From what you say of your ancestry I would have expected much higher Northern European ancestry. I expected more Northern European for myself actually but I ended up with more Southeastern European ancestry which is fine with me haha!

How did I get these scores?

As you can see my Euro 1.0 test results revealed 47% Northern European, 23% Middle Eastern, 23% South Asian, 7% Southeastern Europe. My ABDNA test reveals 10 % Native American and 90% European. My heritage from 1600 is: Potowomecke, English, Irish, Scottish, Welsh, German, French. Where is the Middle Eastern, South Asian, and Southeastern European comming in from? Isn't 23% on both Middle Eastern and South Asian really high for my known ancestry. Well, o.k. before 1600 there is unverified oral history of my family marrying into monachy of alot of different countries, could this be where this is comming from? I haven't even figured out the 1.0 yet, wonder what the 2.0 will reveal?

                    Euro 2. info...

                    Hi all.
Just talked to a lady from DNA Print Genomics. She said that the experts were in the process of figuring out peoples results right now. She said that in about 2 weeks they would be putting the results into productions, printing out the cds and being ready to ship so hopefully around the 21 of Nov or so some of us will have our results.....

Yes I agree that your 23% Middle Eastern does seem high for someone of primarily al Continental Europeans ancestry. It could just be the fact that through random genetic shuffling you happened to recieve more Middle Eastern alleles from your parents.

I wonder if the three tests can be compared as they are based on three different marker sets each set specifically chosen for its informativeness regarding the ancestries specific to the test.

The AbDNA uses SNP's that are informative about descent from four generic 'races', Euro 1.0 uses SNP's informative about the varities of Indo-European, and Euro 2.0 uses SNP's informative about the subsets of continental Europeans.

Each test is its own universe. The Euro 1.0 set was not tried on anyone except Indo-Europeans and the Euro 2.0 set was not tried on anyone except continental Europeans. Hence no test result can be enjoined in the interrogation of another result.

Hopefully they will avoid the earlier standard explanations for any strange result as from about everything from Gypsis to Mongol ancestry
