ABDNA and Phenotype...

I was wondering if some of you could post pictures of yourselves with your ABDNA results. I'll start with mine. This has been a question bugging me. By the way, I had the results that I was 100% European, but other than that, I am close to Sub-Saharan African. I was also wondering if you could tell by the phenotype on that person's origins? I mean not total origins, but just a general idea. Of course, even our brothers and sisters might have another strand of our family's DNA. My girlfriend has a 6th sense to envision the future sometimes. She saw my aunt's results, and they turned out East Asian.

Suspected small Native American or East Asian (from Finns I'm thinking).. She is Western European to note like myself, but I am Eastern European and Mediterranean too.

Thanks for posting your pictures. I'm not ready to post mine just yet, but I was wondering what your aunt's DNA test results were, if you care to post them. I'm half Finnish. My ABDNA results were: 85% Euro, 5% Nat Am, 5% Sub-Sah Afri, 5% East Asian. I've been wondering whether any of the non-Euro results came from my Finnish ancestry. Your aunt looks very Finnish, as you said she is.

I'm also not ready to send pictures yet, but if it's any help me and my Mum have both been asked if we are from another country by other people here in Blighty. Mum has been likened to Hispanic/Mediterranean, I've been asked if I'm Spanish/French/Italian.
Mum is 50% English 50% unknown American. You can see her ABDNA results on my signature.

Downer101, my ancestry includes European, African and Native American. I can tell you that not only does it happen but it is quite common to find red heads along the various branches of my family that I have studied.

Your aunt looks very Native American to me.

Thank you to all who posted! The reason I posted the photos is because I was wondering if it was worth it to test her... She's not actually Finnish, but I think there must be some sort of Finno-Ugric admixture, if Native American DNA doesn't show up. She is my dad's sister, is it still possible for her to show up something different, than my father or myself? By the way, I found that on DNA Tribes, many Northern Europeans (like myself partially), show up with Finno-Ugrian admixture. Is this true? Here is a 'Prehistoric Asian marker' article posted by DNA Tribes.

My Mum seems to have a very low Finno-Ugrian score compared to the Caucasian samples on Tribes and compared to people's scores on Kerschner's blog....what does this mean? Is this further evidence to suggest that the East Asian score on DNAP is nothing to do with this? She also doesn't match against any Eastern European samples either but does match against Latin American regions which makes me think the EA is actually NA.

Interesting article from DNA Tribes about the Prehistoric Asian markers. My paternal grandmother was of 100% Finnish ancestry. I showed a 4% East Asian score with ABDNA. I know this could be just ''noise'' though. I also got a 3% Sub-Saharan African score. My European breakdown at ABDNA is 50% Med, 40% NOR and 10% ME. The only Mediterranean background I have knowledge of is my paternal grandfather and he is of 100% Calabrese ancestry from Southern Italy. The rest of my grandparents had Northern European origins. My maternal grandfather's Y-DNA haplogroup is also J2 though like mine.

With DNA Tribes though I show no close Asian matches at all really. On the High Resolution World match I got a score of 3.47 with Finno-Ugrian. The really strange thing though is that my highest matches by far on the Native population match are with Sub-Saharan African populations from Gabon and South Africa. I have a feeling that this is due to convergence. I have no known African ancestry at all and I certainly do not look African at all.

Would you say that anthropological taxonomy is more accurate than DNA testing? I mean every Northern European has Finno-Ugrian, it has been all over Northern Europe for about 5 000 years. I wouldn't expect anything else..

I mean countries like; Finland, North Germany, Denmark, Sweden, Norway, Holland, Poland, Russia, Belarus, etc.

This is where Finno-Ugric admixture occurs often. I remember seeing a map of the distribution of the Finno-Ugric markers. the North-east was most predominant, meanwhile reaching the south-west it decreases. But, do these autosomal DNA tests have any significance with appearance? Would they coincide with eachother? I mean I look 100% IE, and that's what I got. My aunt (my dad's sister) in the first post might have something else right?

My AncestryByDna result was 83 % European, and 17% Native American. I have no known Native American ancestry. I expected 100% European, or a possible 97% Euro, 3% East Asian (if I had any Hun or Mongolian blood in me).

My top 20 native matches include Mozambique, Pakistan, & Syria.
I also match Maori, West Polynesian, Oriya Brahmin (India), Zulu, and so on. Out

I'm American. All my known ancestors came here from Europe, mostly the British Isles.

How did you get your 254 top populations? DNA Tribes only gave me the top 20.

Extended Match Results.

Its called Extended Match Results Report. Go to order page, on DNA Tribes website, it is there. It is still only 25.00. It gives you about 17 pages worth of populations. The amount of your personal results vary, depending on who you match too. You may only have results for say 12 pages though, the rest would be 0's.

Yes, it is a good idea. I do not know how to post pictures. I am 10% Native American and 90% European. My hair is brown, my eyes are blue and light to medium skin. I read , on AncestrybyDNA cd, that 30-35% dna is needed for you to look like the dominate ethnic group, well I guess am showing the 90% European, whatever that means.
