I am trying to find out if a male "cousin" and I (female) can do any kind of DNA testing to determine if we are from the same family line? We believe we are related but cannot prove it Any help would be greatly appreciated!

Is your suspected common ancestor male or female?
If male, and you have a straight male line to the current generation for each family (same surname in current generation), then a male from each family can have the Y chromosome test to prove or disprove a relationship.
If the ancestor was female, and you have an unbroken female line to the current generation for
each line, you can use the mtDNA test to determine
whether you are related.
