... i have the above match with an individual in the database. we both got the 25-marker Y DNA test.
my surname is "moore," his is "kirkpatrick."
my family has an oral tradition that has been passed down (first written down in 1933) that our earliest direct paternal ancestor switched his surname from "kirkptarick" or "fitzpatrick" to "moore" and was from PA -- the same state as my match's ancestry.
does the fact that i have a "High Resolution Match -- One Step Mutation" with a known Kirkpatrick add any creedance to my Moore family's oral surname switch?
can any further testing be done to confirm or deny such an hypothesis?
