Hi I am a new member and am finding my way. My specific reason for doing would be to prove/disprove a family suggestion that my fathers mother had Aboriginal heritage. As i child i was unaware of this suggestion and it has only recently been aired. My question is if i do the FT DNA test will it show up or is the grouping still developing. I hope this makes sense.Brian

FTNDA tests 90 populations. One of them is Oceanic/Sahul, which I believe is relevant to your question.

AncestryDNA has a category actually called Aboriginal

So either test should work.

Americans often have the same Native American family story. Frequently centers around a great grandmother, etc. Many of those turn out to be false, according to the DNA.
