I have a great++grandmother on my maternal line who is a roadblock. Cannot ID her parents. I have my mothers DNA data and mine, I have ID'd a direct female descendent cousin (4th) and have her DNA data. I have also found another person who is descended from a person a generation further up a branch of that g++granmothers maiden name tree. Because I don't know who her father was I can't connect that working tree to my tree but we all match on chromosome 7 in a certain segment.
Is the match to the "cousin" further up in the working tree a good indication that I'm in the right branch or is there another cousin I should target to narrow things down?
