I noticed reading the forum that someone mentioned that LDS has done DNA testing. Does LDS have a web site about what surnames they have in their DNA projects or is it private ?

Hey Ladybug,
Do you know this site?
http://www.lds.org/
Asking around there is your best bet.

Hi LadyBug,
You might want to try this LDS site. Great resource for research.

You're probably thinking of the "Molecular Genealogy" project, originally associated with Brigham Young University and recently transferred to the Sorenson Molecular Genealogy Foundation in Salt Lake City.

That was never an LDS project per se. As the SMGF explains on their website, it is a research project which will not bear fruit for several years. They are focusing on markers found on all the chromosomes, not just Y and mtDNA. People who volunteer to participate will not receive any personal results from the study, but they will have the satisfaction of contributing to new methods if the theories pan out.
