  • a DNA kit isn't a DNA kit

    Hi

I purchased 2 YDNA kits. I normally ship these off to my cousins to test but thought I would open one of these. Inside I found a payment form, green consent form, return envelope and two swabs.

When I took a test for myself years ago it came with a How to guide AND two small vials to be the end of the swabs into. It didnt come with a payment form and had instructions on how to take the test.

Do FTDNA not need the vials anymore? Why are there no instructions for use.

I opened the second kit and no vials either and no instructions for use.

I paid for both kits in full so they shouldn't be sending payment info. Its confusing.

From the 'Learning Center' it appears FTDNA now uses three different types of kit. I suggest you see https://learn.familytreedna.com/test...-instructions/

      Any kit should contain instructions.

I'd also check the other kit!

Thanks Jim. My other kit also has no instructions. I must have the dry swab kit but the swab looks different to the two pictured at that link.
Blanko - thanks I had emailed them but have found support takes up to a month or is non existent

FTDNA sent me instructions to print and also confirmed it was a dry kit.
