  • (south) yemen tribes

    hi. im relatively new here.

you guys ever heard of surname "ka3wilah/ka3weleh/ka3welah" ?

im a yemeni blood in indonesia. i believe my great grandfather came from seyyon - hadromout (south yemen).

would be really appreciated if you guys can provide me infos regarding it (sort of, which yemeni tribes im from etc)

    thanks.

    Omar:

if you can, you should really do the genographic project or other genetic tests. Very little is known about Yemen, I cannot think about any particular study that carefully studied the genetic composition of Yemen, so your results would be very informative.

I can only think of a study of Oman. The composition of Omani male lineages is approximately the following:
    typical African 8%
E3b (which could be Ethiopian/Somalian, but not necessarily) 10%
    J (typical Arabic) 45-50%
    K2 6% (Arabic/Ethiopian)
    R1 (more northern) 8%
    the rest other smaller groups.

When I say "African" I don't mean anything recent- it could have happened thousands of years ago.

Let me ask my Yemeni friends even though they grew up in other parts of the world, they could know something or ask their relatives

I have posted your question in a Hadhrami geneology forum. If I get an answer I will post it here.
