  • Where is the threshold between noise and reality in ethnic results?

    HI all

I'd like to ask at what point can one be sure one has a particular ancestry or whether one could be seeing noise in one's ethnicity results.

For example my ethnic results show up as 3% southern European. Is 3% sufficient to be sure that there is a southern European ancestor somewhere, albeit maybe a long way back. So in other words at what percentage can one generally confidently say that one has the particular ancestry identified. I realise there will always be some risk of error but I m just trying to get a threshold that most people find correct most of the time.

    Thanks Peter
