  • French DNA

    [FONT=Arial][SIZE=3][COLOR=Black]

    Hi
    Are the French into this DNA reasearch? Looking to match my I1a as it matched twice in the Normandy but only with 12 marker participants. I asume the French were populated in by King Rollo and his army prior to invading England in 1066

    The French connection

    We've ignored the French connection too long! France lies between the Ice Age refugia and the British Isles. So there have to be lots of connections.

    For example: The thousands of French Huguenots who fled to England, among other destinations; especially during Louis XIV's (is that fourteenth?) reign. They would've added various haplogroups to the British mix. I am wondering if my mtDNA might be Huguenot origin, since it seems culturally related to my so-called and alleged Pennsylvania Dutch great-grandfather. I notice my mtDNA U5b2 haplotype is not much different from some of Swiss origin.

    Well, it's fun to speculate...
