You can keep the DNA donor's name on the new kit while the email could be yours so that you administer it as long as he is okay with that. No need to change the name unless he really really wants to. If he doesn't want his name on it, you can use initials but I suggest keeping at least the surname if possible.

I just found the TOS but it does not specify how to orchestrate the test. You have explained it. I don't feel that we need an actual paternity test. My daughter is shown as a match to me at 1.0 generation on Gedmatch. Same with my daughter and her daughter. This will be sufficient for all concerned at this time. Thanks, Mr. W.

Yes, you (or somebody else) can administer his account.

Now, the gotcha. Initially everything has to be in his name, since he has to sign the paperwork (agreements) using his name. However, once his DNA goes to the lab ("is batched"), you can change the name on the account to John Doe.

Yes, FTDNA would be able to track his name, but nobody else beyond the person who administers his account would ever know it. By the way, FTDNA testing does not qualify as a legal paternity test in the USA (or elsewhere, because there is no custody chain).

    Mr. W

    P.S.
John Doe might not be the best choice for a name. I would pick from the most popular first names and last names in his population. For example:
    England: George Taylor
    Ireland: James Smith
    Quebec: Paul Gagnon
One never knows who else tested...

I have tested with FTDNA Family Finder. Now, I want to help a friend confirm her birth father. He is willing to take the test but not if he has to establish his own account. How can I have him test and administer his account? Thank you.
