  • Finding unknown ancestor through triangulation

My goal with this project I am working on is to find an unknown father to my paternal grandmothers paternal grandfather. The out of wedlock son was born in 1834.

I have used the FamilyFinder test and have several DNA-matches that are all descended from the same ancestor born in 1707 in the Finn Forest of Sweden.

Two of these DNA-matches are 2nd cousins once removed to eachother, and they share a MRCA born in 1785.

One of these men, called X, match with me, my father L and my fathers cousin O as a 2nd to 4th cousin. Stats:

Me and X: 56 shared cM, longest block 27.
    L and X: 56 shared cM, longest block 26.
    O and X: 53 shared cM, longest block 26.

The other man, called Y, comes up as a 4th/5th to remote cousin to us three.

Me and Y: 26 shared cM, longest block 11.
    L and Y: 34 shared cM, longest block 11.
    O and Y: 55 shared cM, longest block 12.

Since X and Y have the MRCA born in 1785 in common, and X and us three are closely related through DNA, can I assume that we are all descended from that same MRCA?
OR is it more likely that we three are descended from the MRCA further back in time, born 1707?
