  • MyHeritage DNA ethnicity estimate vs FTDNA

MyHeritage DNA have now released their ethnicity estimate feature for free uploads. Here's my family's compared to their FTDNA results:
Dad (mostly British with something East Med being picked up on 23andme/Gedmatch/DNALand and MO 1.0):

    My Heritage:
    78.9%
    English
    68.9%
    Scandinavian
    10.0%
    South Europe
    21.1%
    Italian
21.1% (DNALand say 17% Med Islander, Gedmatch shows higher than UK average scores for East Med regions, 23andme 1.1% Eastern European, 0.3% MENA and 0.1% AJ and MO 1.0 8% Jewish).

    MO 2.0:
    69% West/Central Europe
    26% Scandinavia
    4% British Isles

Mum (half UK half unknown American):

    My Heritage:
    North and West Europe
    96.4%
    English
    49.3%
    Irish, Scottish, and Welsh
    47.1%
    South Europe
    3.6%
    Iberian
    3.6%

    MO 2.0:
    Mum: West/Central Europe 50%
    Britain 48%

    Maternal British Half Aunt:
    My Heritage:
    94.9%
    English
    88.2%
    Finnish
    6.7%
    South Europe
    5.1%
    Iberian
    5.1%

    MO 2.0:
    British Isles 87%
    East Europe 9%
    SE Europe 3%

Not bad! Anyone else done it? I've just uploaded mine!

Well I got my results and once again another test has shown that I don't have any extra mystery DNA unlike MyOrigins!

      North and West Europe
      83.9%
      English
      68.4%
      Irish, Scottish, and Welsh
      15.5%
      South Europe
      16.1%
      Italian
      8.9%
      Iberian
      7.2%

To be fair, Ancestry, DNALand and MyOrigins all give me between 80-90% North Western European but if MyOrigins could just explain why I am getting 7% SE European that neither parent gets I would be happy! I get Jewish from my Dad at Ancestry, Med Islander from him on DNALand, East Med from him at Gedmatch and now the Italian from him at MyHeritage so the SE European on MO 2.0 would be believable if only Dad actually got some but he did get 8% Jewish on MO 1.0!
