  • Lots of Data - No understanding

Have tried to review the questions on this forum and tried to understand what all the numbers and letters mean. But there is so much here that a somewhat "normal" person can't interpret.

For example, on my mtDNA - Matches there are plenty of people on the list with H44a1 which I assume is somehow related to my mothers side. But I don't want to reach out to someone without knowing a little more.

Next to a person's name are the letters "FMS FF" -- what does that mean?

These are just examples. but bottom-line - is there a "course" available here to better understand what all this means and how to actually use the information?

FMS = person has tested their mtDNA to the highest resolution possible to learn their full mitochondrial sequence

FF = person has taken the Family Finder autosomal DNA test
