I have been waiting for the full marker values of my Y-DNA67 test I purchased in Oct, 2016. I received a rather quick return of my autosomal DNA transfers in Dec, 2016 and every time I pulled up my matches, all it reported were matches at the 12 marker level. I assumed the 25, 37 and 67 matches would soon follow but, this morning, I found out my assumption was incorrect. I’m “unique” which I think is a good characterization but certainly not when trying to locate one’s ancestors. Here is the response I received from a Senior Agent with FTDNA:

“For kit 567285, when I sign into your account and click the Y-STR Results link from your Y-DNA menu, I can see all 67 marker values you ordered to be tested. Please let me know if you're unable to view any of them. However, you currently have matches at the 12 marker level, and don't currently have any higher. This is because there is no individual in our current database who has tested above 12 who is closely-enough related to you to be considered related along your direct paternal line. Your genetic signature is rather unique among our current database. If you do get a closer match in the future, you will automatically be notified via email.”

Do any of you have advice? How unique is this and is waiting my best choice? My haplogroup is R-M269.

JacFin, you are not alone! I am from Brazil, and I am R-M269, since the 2008, with matches only on 12 markers. I know a lot of people like me and you. It's a problem of this haplogroup. It's difficult to find matches on 25 and 37 markers.

To see your 67 marker values you shoul click on the "Y-STR Results" button. And no you aren't unique. There are customers who have no matches at any level.

Since SMGF days of 85 % match GD . Ysearch GD 20
FTDNA matches of GD 1 & 2 at Y12, tested to Y111 no matches, Ysearch GD 19. Terminal SNP Z308/Z8191/ZP8 11 person's

The only reason that I have a match at 67 and 111 markers is because I asked a person with my surname with genealogy back to the town my ancestors were from in the 16th century to get a Y111 test.

I have a lot of distant relatives from my other lines, not direct paternal, based on common genealogical ancestors and family finder matches that do not have matches at 37 or 67 markers.

I think I might win this rareness thing! I have tested Y111 and Big Y. For STR tests the only matches I have are at Y12 and they are GD of 1 (15 of them)! I have 0 matches for Big Y and that includes the only other person that I currently share a new subclade with (E-BY13750). Most people complain that Big Y matches don't mean anything and they wish they didn't have so many!

I checked at Ysearch and my closest match (term used lightly) is a GD of 41 at the Y95 level! I manually compared the other person I share a subclade with and we are GD of 38. One of the admins on a project did a compare and found my closest match at Y67 level was GD of 15. At the current time there is a chance I am an alien!
