  • Phasing question

Why, on my match list, is my daughter listed as a paternal match? There is absolutely no possibility that my husband and I are genetically related, so she doesn't have any DNA from my family except through me.

I suspect it has to do with how many maternal matches you have on your list which you share the same segment over 9cM with your daughter.

If your maternal side is under tested in FTDNA database, it may not be linking your daughter as a maternal match also.

Do you have confirmed maternal matches with longest segment over 9cM which also show up on your daughters list?

Or does your daughter show up in the Both tab also?

I don't have any close maternal relatives who have tested, so the only phasing I show is paternal. I guess what you're saying is that if I did have maternal phasing, my daughter would show up there as well.

That is correct. I have a similar situation where I show up as only maternal match to my grandmother; obviously I would be paternal as well.
