  • What to upload in GEDCOM?

    Hi,

Do I only upload direct ancestors, or also cousins?

Regarding events, do I retain more than just birth and death info (like census data, to show where people lived in-between birth and death)?

    Thanks

It's up to you. If you include extended family members, you cast a wider net, specifically since some others only list their personal pedigree.

I don't think FTDNA shows residence info (the tree site doesn't look right on my phone or tablet, so I can't actually see it all), but I think birth and death place should suffice.

Add as many twigs and branches as you can, you will get more matches on your tree the more people you have in it. Birth and death dates and places are all that show in the tree, whne you load it via a gedcom. On individuals in the tree you can add notes, or other relevant surnames.
