  • *Poof* You Are Now R1b1c

I was just looking at the Y-DNA DYS Values section of my personal page. Now it lists my y-haplogroup as R1b1c and not just R1b1 like before.

    Interesting.

Progress. I think some of my closest matches must have gotten their SNP results. Since they are now officially R1b1c, I can be listed that way, too, pending my own SNP results.

Cool. It's nice to see updates like that.

That is one of the features of FTDNA I really like: my personal page.

They must do that for everyone (update the haplogroup) upon official results of a SNP from another. That is what happened with my brother's. One day he was r1b1, and the next he was r1b1c however no test was ordered and we cannot "officially" claim the group.

I think it's cool. It makes waiting for one's own results that much easier.

I really like my personal page. It's one of FTDNA's best features.

I also like the projects. My surname project administrator (Glenn Stephens) and I communicate via email all the time. He's a great guy.

My haplotype is HT2 (the lighter wine-colored one). It seems to be most common in North Germany, Denmark, Norway, and up into the Baltic.

I don't know how significant that info is, since it is only based on seven markers.
I enjoyed that page. Thanks for the interesting links.

              You're welcome.

Did you notice the prevalence of HT2 in the Baltic region? http://www.geocities.com/prooferjoan/R1b.htm

I wonder what the reason for that is.

              German settlers, maybe? Teutonic Knights?

Yep, and after listening to the language used in the movie "Blazing Saddles," I looked up the history of Teutonic

                  I prefer gin-and-tonic myself.

                  • This link was posted much earlier in this thread by Elise Friedman, but I wanted to post it again for the benefit of those who have not yet seen it.

It is a nice table of R1b Project y-dna results. Give it a few minutes to load; it's worth the wait.

                    I'm the Stevens at #52 (Kit #59080).

If you all haven't joined the R1b Project yet, you should. We need as much data on R1bs as we can get.

                    • How many projects can one join here at FTDNA?

I am officially a member of two: the Steffen Project and the R1b Project.

Can I join another geographic or ethnic/national project?

                      • You can join at least one surname, one haplogroup and one geographical project for Y-DNA and then one haplogroup and one geographical project for mtDNA. It may be possible to join more than that, not sure -- but I'm told there is indeed a limit to how many you can join.

                          Great! Thanks again, Elise.

I have one more (a geographical) I can join on the y-side, and I'm wide open on the mtDNA side because I haven't even tested for that yet.

                          Hmmm . . . which geographical project to join . . .

                          I know I'm an American . . . I'm R1b1c . . .

That's the one for me (and you, too)!

                              Hey, where have you been?

I've missed your (warped) sense of humor.

                              • HOORAY!!! Early (partial) Deep SNP-R1b Results!

I just got my partial Deep SNP-R1b results back from FTDNA.

                                Here they are:

                                R1b1c M173+ M207+ M269+ M343+ P25+ M126- M153- M160- M18- M222- M65- M73- SRY2627-

I guess all I lack is M37 and P66, like just about everyone else.

I'm happy though. At least I have confirmation that I am R1b1c, and I have some infomartion to think about, learn about, and maybe speculate about.

And I got this information early! My target date wasn't until July 17th!

                                Cool!

                                Thanks, FTDNA!

                                Good job!

Is there anything I need to update in YSEARCH?

The email I got mentioned updating YSEARCH, but I didn't see any means for adding SNPs.

Maybe somebody here can enlighten me.
