New kit "release" form

I've just had FTDNA send a kit to a possible relation and he is inquiring about a green release form that indicates it's optional to sign.

Does he HAVE to sign this to have his kit processed or is it truly optional?

What is the purpose of signing, or not, this green form?

I believe it is still processed, but no matching will be done.

You can tell them that name (which is shared with matches) can be entered as a alias before results are processed. Info shared is only what is entered into profile. To see what is shared with matches click on kits My Profile > Public View

Is there an electronic way to send a release form if one of my kits was sent in without it? I'm outside the US and it would be easier to take care of it online.

Yes. Once the kit is marked received, you can go to Matches and MyOrigins and electronically sign from there.
