  • Is there a way to find a particular gene? ("Gay gene" query)

    Hi all,
I've had the Y37 test and family finder done and wondered of there is a way to find a particular gene?

Basically, I'm gay and have been looking into research on the "gay gene" which some research suggests gay men share genetic signatures on the gene Xq28 gene as mentioned here: http://www.telegraph.co.uk/news/scie...rch-finds.html

So, firstly, are they saying this gene could be the link, or do we all have this gene and the signatures are the link? Sorry, I'm new to this, and can't see any mention of Xq28 on my raw data so I'm after any help.

    Thank you.

Xq28 is the name of a region, not a specific gene. It's at the tip of the chromosome starting at about 147,000,000 Mb.

This Wikipedia article covers some of the controversy about its significance.

You can also search http://scholar.google.com for technical articles about Xq28.
