I recently joined a group on the FamilytreeDNA website because of a member that shares my quite rare surname and lives very close to where I know my paternal family came from. Now I would like to contact this person but it dose not give me any contact information, only his surname and kit number. Is there any way for me to contact him?

If the person is not a match, you may be able to to contact the project's administrator and see if they could contact the person of interest on your behalf.

Is your kit number shown on the same page as the page showing the other kit number?

What type of results are being displayed on the page you are looking at: Y-DNA, mtDNA and/or Family Finder?
