  • Using SPSS cluster analysis to find DNA similarities

I have over 6000 people listed on my autosomal FTDNA results. The data for each of these is compared with me, one on one. I would like to see whether there are clusters of people I’m more closely related to than other people on the list.

What about cluster analysis, eg with SPSS? Would the shared cM or the longest block give the sort of data that could be used in a cluster analysis? What about the raw data, downloadable from FTDNA? Would you actually need the individual chromosome data, which I think you can only get person by person, not in tabular form?

I can get hold of SPSS. If it can be done, how would I do it?
