Leeb, the main thing is that you are negative for the markers below DF27 that were tested and wait until a DF27 SNP pack is released, which will have a lot more SNPs, or you can afford a BigY test which looks for previously unknown markers, or a 67 marker match appears that has had a BigY test, or the DF27 admin notices that you have STR markers that match people in a certain subclade.

The markers below DF27 that were tested are the following -

          CTS10429
          F2691
          FGC20761
          L881
          A4670
          Z2573
          Y5058
          CTS11567
          L617
          DF81
          DF83
          Z225
          Z195
          DF17
          Z198
          Z262
          Z296
          Z209

The DF27 project is at https://www.familytreedna.com/groups...out/background which you should join if you haven't already.

How long did take for FTDNA return results for this test?

I ordered mine on 7/29/15, batch 633. When I get my results I'll let you know how long it took. I've gone over 3,640 weeks without knowing the results. A few more weeks is no big deal.

Maybe not, but we don't all have your patience Jim!

My first principle of genetic genealogy: "It will teach you the virtue of patience, maybe even more so than paper trail genealogy, if you don't already possess that virtue."

Life goes on and for most people takes up a lot of time. There's plenty of other things going on in most people's lives to be dealing with and thinking about.

So, don't obsess (too much) about your results and when they'll show up, because DNA testing is not like the last episode of "CSI" you saw on TV. If you were to go by that fictional drama, you'd expect to get your results within an hour of the lab receiving it!

Commercial DNA testing is not like ordering a product from Amazon.com. Your results are not something they can take off the shelf in the warehouse and ship to you in a few days. The results come from a scientific process that involves complicated procedures - see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Polymerase_chain_reaction - and after that's complete, the lab takes the product of those procedures to perform the test(s) you've ordered.

As the Wikipedia article I linked to notes, "In practice, PCR can fail for various reasons, in part due to its sensitivity to contamination causing amplification of spurious DNA products." So, complications that delay the process can occur, which is why patience is a good thing to have.

Even having said all this, we do expect that FTDNA will streamline their testing process and eliminate the IT bugs that frustrate us, so that our patience is not strained too much.

Does this R1b backbone test for D27 itself? I did not see that on the list of snps tested

Mike Walsh, the administrator of the R1b All Subclades project, reported recently that DF27 was added to the backbone test a couple of weeks ago. It was not a part of the backbone test until then, so FTDNA needs to update the SNP list for the test.

Also, Mike reported that anyone who already got their backbone test results before DF27 was added will have their results rerun with DF27 included, free of charge.

FTDNA added L277 after the original announcement but so far they are not offering to retest the early batches to include it. They told me if I wanted L277 tested I could spend more money.

I just checked the SNP list for R1b-M343 and find that L277 is no longer included.

                            Expected Results???

Why does the batch not list an expected date for results?
