  • Gedmatch is back up

I only recently started using it, does it go down for a week at a time very often? Seems to have quite a few more matches when all of the testing companies combine.

How accurate have people found their generation predictions to be? They will list to the nearest tenth of a generation.

Why did you have to announce that I've been using it all morning since it went back online this morning. Now there is a server overload. Let people find it on their own.

I thought about announcing it on here earlier ....but then decided...NO WAY.....now can't access it. Keep that in mind for the future :-0

Their generation estimates seem a bit to close to me. I'm pretty novice at this, but it seems like the same matches that I have on FTDNA are predicted a little closer on Gedmatch than on FTDNA, and the more distant predictions seem closer to what I'd expect.

I've actually found Gedmatch very on target. I have 11 kits on there and have about 10 other kits from close family members on there but testing with other companies. Some of the results are EXACT as far as the number of generations. Also, keep in mind that their parameters are 7 cm as opposed to 5 cm for FTDNA

Thanks. My own kit is all I have, so my experience is very limited.
