  • DNA and Kleinfelter's Syndrome & "XXX" and Other "X" Questions.

Just curious how FTDNA and the other Genealogy DNA testing service handle the occasional person with an extra "X" chromosome.

As you know there is a rare chromosomal disorder that affects males called Kleinfelter's syndrome where the man has "XXY" rather than "XY."

Also the occasional woman will have an "XXX" abnormality. (The females with XXX are usually fertile)

Are the testing companies prepared for the occasional sex chromosome variant?

Can the testing companies separate the extra "X" from the other and tell if the extra came from the mother or father?

And then there's Turner Syndrome where the person has only one "X". Does the "X" in that case come from the mother or father? My guess, the mother.
