  • Eurogenes results - what do they mean?

I'm new to genetic genealogy, so I'm hoping someone with more experience might be able to help me interpret some results. I've taken the AncestryDNA (autosomnal) test, and uploaded my raw data to gedmatch.com.

In gedmatch, I've selected the Admixture (heritage) test, using Eurogenes EUtest V2 K15, then selected the Oracle 4 option. I am posting my results below so hopefully someone can help me make more sense from them.

There are several results: Admix (results) Sorted. That has a population and a percentage. Does this mean I am that percentage of each grouping?

Next is the Least Squares Method, that has what seem to be various sub groups and percentages. The smallest percentage is at top, and the largest percentage at bottom. Would that mean I'm more of the group with a smaller percentage, since that appears first? Not sure what to make of it.

Below that are other groups that are grouped together, and a percentage next to that.

This is a bit confusing, and there is no real explanation with the results, so I am hoping someone can help break it down for me. Thanks!!!

I'll try to respond, since no one else is. I'm no expert; I just try to read and understand like everyone else.

According to iowadnaproject.wordpress.com, two of the most popular admixture tools for people of European ancestry are Eurogenes K13 and Dodecad V3, both of which can be accessed through gedmatch.com. I've tried K13 and Dodecad V3, and Eurogenes K13 is more accurate for me, but your mileage may vary.

I don't put much stock in the percentages; I think they MAY refer to ancient DNA, but it seems rather speculative.

The "least squares method" attempts to match you with the DNA of various populations. The lower the number, the lower the genetic distance. Therefore, it is "guessing" that if it had to say that you had "one" ancestry, it would say you are French, but, oddly, if it had to guess about the ancestry of your four grandparents, it would guess that they were Sicilian, Irish, English, and English. Obviously, both those statements cannot be true. The only thing I can say is that you should try the various admixture tests at gedmatch.com and stick with the one that is closest to your known ancestry. In my case, the K13 4-population gives me Danish-Finnish-Swedish-Swedish, which is pretty accurate, except that I have known Norwegian ancestry, but I believe that is accounted for by the historical Danish-Norwegian connection.

I wonder what or where is this descriptive per cent mean in the world?
What is it, or where is it.
No, these numbers do not actually reflect our paper trail so far that is, that we have found, back to 1585/1605 Jamaica, LI NY USA for my dad's side.
And only back to the early 1800s for my Mom's. No one has really back tracked on her GERMANY origins that far. This IS from www.gedmatch.com for Oracle Eurogenes - Irish selection.
      My brother's chart below noted:

This version of GEDmatch Oracle is based on 'Oracle v1' by Dienekes Pontikos. His original program was developed as part of the Dodecad Ancestry Project. More information on Dienekes' orignal program can be found here.

Many thanks also to Zack Ajmal for helping us get this web version of Dienekes' Oracle program developed.

The Spanish_Galicia is from the middle result chart.
Most of the numbers are basically ALL very small in total. And for the one to be the highest, 16.xx is really confusing me.
I know that most feel that these charts calculations are important to them, to discover their origins, but with his kit, has him all over the place.

      Thank you

When we first began, with FTDNA< they had him in category "U" then changed it to "J" and then a few years ago, as more tested, to "I2a, P 37.2". That was back in late 2004, and I realy got into it in April 2005. So thatis the date i usually use when I correpondond about it. April2005.

        Hi everyone,

Just so you know I'm very new at DNA testing, matching and Genology.
I first started doing Genology by just testing my DNA to know for sure the man I met 25 years ago was actually my biological father. He died in 2001 one month after I asked him to do a DNA test but we never got the chance. My DNA is now confirmed 18 years later.

I'm very interested my Ethnicity since I have no living relatives to ask. It seems the more I study DNA and all it's facets the less I know but i'm trying. I tested with MyHeritage, uploaded raw DNA to FTDNA, Gedmatch, GENI, and Wikitree, also built my family trees in all these sites including Ancestry. Any feedback would be awesome, Thanks.

I'm 100% North and West Europe:

        English 55.8 %
        Irish, Scottish and Welsh 22.6%
        Scavanian 21.6%
