  • Advice on what tests recommended

I have a male friend who did not know who his biological father was. However, there was a "father's" name listed on his birth certificate. He was always told this was not the real father. (Who knows why!) Anyway, the listed father's name is a very Italian name, and in fact this person's great-grandfather was the Italian immigrant to the U.S. in the late 1800s. Anyway, my friend has died, leaving behind 2 male sons. I was wondering if there would be any tests they could do that could possibly at least indicate that this man, of Italian descent, could possibly be their biological grandfather. I'm guessing a Y-DNA and a Family Finder? Hope this wasn't too confusing!
    Thanks for any help.

I would start with Y-DNA37 or Y-DNA67 hoping to get an idea of a possible surname.
