  • mtDNA Haplogroup H - 240G, 519C

    Am I a rare bird? When I do a mitosearch, I find 243 matches with 519C only (ie., -1); only 2 exact; and one 240G, 291T, and 519C (ie., +1).

    1. Why are the exact matches listed last, rather than first?

    2. Why so few matches?

    3. What do I do next?

    Thx,

    Paula

I hate having my thread disappear with only this brief answer. Can no one else help me?

I don't see how sampling error answers my question, since there are so many H's that I match at -1?

I see 519C appearing so frequently in data from Forum members, and I'm wondering if 519C is not the 'wild type', and CRS has the mutation?

Paula, the variant with C at 16519 is slightly more frequent than one with T, it's the only one site in hvs1 where CRS differs from the European "consensus". In hvs2 CRS has more differences from the consensus type. CRS is simply the first completely sequenced genome and now its use is conditional rather than "phylogenetical".

According to Loogvali et al 2004, this variant may fall into H4.

vraatyah, thank you very much. However, you've gone way over my head!

Could you please just explain one of them, like:

            Andalusia of Corte-Real H 240 16069-16370

Then perhaps I can follow it a little.

Andalusia - region or ethnos of the probands

of Corte-Real - the first author

              H - hg

              240 - sequence

16069-16370 - its range (so, 519 site was not sequenced)

                vraatyah, HVR-2 info added

Hello, vraatyah, and thanks again for the previous information.

I now have tested HVR-2 as well - can you tell me any more?

                1 - 240G, 519C

                2 - 146C, 263G, 315.1C

My earliest known maternal-line ancestor was born in Moravia.

Hello sister H....though we are long separated.

My Maternal line is Haplo H.we share the 16519C, and the 315.1C. we might have had a common female ancestor thousands of years ago. Howdy!

                  aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa

                  My mutations are :

                  MVR!- 16145A , 16519C

                  MVR2- 152C, 263G, 309.1C, 309.2C, 315.1C

Like you I have a wierd mutation that isn't very popular at all. So far no other Haplo H has 16145A in MVR1

Edit: i guess you don't have the 315.1C.

We're still on the same limb.... just a different twig
