  • 67-111 test

Can I order a 67-111 marker test on its own for my son? I had my son's Geno2.0 test transfered to FTDNA and we should have the same 67 markers.
I am tested to 67 markers and all the SNP tests that go along with it.

If you have his kit number and his password so you can access his myFTDNA website you can. Click on the "Order an Upgrade" near the top right. Click on the "Order a Standard Test" button in the left hand column. At the right hand end of the product box, click on the arrow and select "Y-Refine67to111".
Click on the "Next" button and follow the remaining instructions.

Unless your son has already been tested to 67 markers, I doubt you could order a 67-111 upgrade for him. Why not order the 67-111 for yourself?

It seems 1798 wants the Geno Y SNP's associated with a Y-111 profile. I am inclined to agree FTDNA would not allow a 67-111 upgrade absent 67 results. The least expensive option is to test the son to Y-111 and lodge both the 67 and 111 STR profiles in a project where it is understood the two STR profiles and all SNP's tested be read as one.

You could dis-enroll from the project and re-enroll after your private analysis of results.

I think that by transfering my results to FTDNA I was giving them something for nothing. So in return when I ask them for something that I am willing to pay for they could say thanks. I dont need to test my son for 67 markers. The 67-111 test is what I want and if I dont then it will be FTDNAs loss not mine.
I really dont care. The fact that I didnt find any new SNPs in the Geno2.0 was really a waste of money. The test is a washout for anyone that has tested as much as I have.

You must have wanted to learn something by testing as much as you report and you have learned something from Geno 2.0, although that knowledge does not include any "new SNP's" for which you hoped.

The Geno 2.0 is a great test for starters. You are right,I have learned some things from it.

I wonder if you could transfer your son's Geno results to your FTDNA account containing your Y-67?

I don't know what controls are in place to prevent such but there would be an obvious concordance of surname and SNP's.

I tried to do the same thing with my mtDNA FMS test.

Since my Mom would have the same mtDNA haplogroup, I wanted to add this data to her FF account.

FTDNA customer service told me emphatically that "they don't mix results from different kit numbers."

I wonder if the 23andme transfer to FF includes the y-DNA or mtDNA haplogroup assignment made by 23andme (along with the autosomal data)?

I transfered two 23&Me profiles to FF that do not show MtDNA haplos although the data was available.

The transfer of Geno data is a case that is different from intra-FTDNA transfers or uploads. Might work, might not.

The only use I found for my 23&Me Y SNP's was to add them to Adriano Squecco's project - that now seems moribund.
