For those who do not understand what I'm talking about

You can put: Download Raw Data
from your personal page on Family Finder
and use prometease to see your snps
Similar to 23and me - health
How do you download or upload to Promethease. My computer won't let me run an FTDNA version because the program lacked certification.

    Prometheus vs 23andMe

Someone said these two (Prometheus and 23andMe) provide "similar" health data.
    How similar?
What key gene data is unique to 23andMe vs. Prometheus?

    Does anybody know?

    Thanks!

Like Maddi said, just because one carries specific snps for an illness does not mean you will end up getting that illness. Everyone carries snps for up to hundreds of illnesses, that doesn't mean you will get any of them.

Genetics does not determine everything. As in genetic genealogy, the medical impact of various SNP results are matters of probability.

According to 23andMe, based on my results, I should be lactose intolerant. But I have no problem with milk and milk products. Also, my results indicate that I have a smaller chance than the average person to get pancreatic cancer. I was diagnosed with pancreatic cancer in August and am undergoing treatment now.

So, I would not agree with you that it's inevitable that you'll have Alzheimers, just that it's more likely than the average person. Otherwise, your plan for diet and exercise is the best thing you can do to avoid Alzheimers.

Yes, but I'm fairly sure I am going to die. If I know about possible health problems and/or medication problems I might be able to delay the cause. If not I know that I shouldn't put things off until tomorrow.

Being informed is a good thing I think.

I just did it myself. Pretty easy to do, and if you pay the $2.00, it is very fast. It gives you information on cancer, resistance to medicines, Parkinson's, etc. Kind of interesting, but also can be a little depressing like predicting your own death.
