That is true. I was referring to an earlier post that said
"This is confirmation since reason given for the divorce"

Mailed letters to my possible aunt and uncle a week ago, no response yet. Mailing letters to possible half sisters today.

Someone helping me found a more recent address of my possible birth mother. I sent her a letter that she signed for on 08/30/16.

Anxiously awaiting contact of some sort.

          Update

In August I mailed my birth mother a letter. She signed for it and my half sister messaged me on Facebook and told me to but out.

I have since gotten a second cousin match at Ancestry that lines up everything too.

In December I met my 1st cousin once removed and was very well received. I am going to go to meet her siblings in Florida this summer.

I'm glad that you have found some cousin to help and welcome you. Perhaps you can get some medical information from them.

Just remember that your bio family may have several reasons for not wanting to meet with you, while a more distant cousin doesn't have the emotional attachment with that part of the family.

I do understand it. I was adopted in 1960, a very different time for birth mothers. I am not expecting a relationship.

I wonder if your half-sister is the gatekeeper for the mother?

At least you have the cousins to meet and that might clarify what is going on.

                  Good luck!

                  Jack

It may have changed, but at the time one was in Florida and one was in Virginia.

This past week I believe I have found my birth father. I had been convinced that several third cousin matches were paternal cousins but had never been able to narrow things down enough.

I also have a strong 4th cousin match adoptee I had connected with. We were even born in the same hospital about a year apart. He is in reunion and I have helped him build his family tree and he has helped me with my search. We had no common ancestors on my birth mother's side.

I decided to work our common matches to see where they were all connected. The common ancestor was in the tree of my third cousin too and I was able to narrow things down to two brothers. One was living in the right place at the right time.

I called him on Tuesday and asked if he knew my birth mother and he said yes. I told him that I thought she might be my birth mother and I was trying to find her phone number and that DNA indicated that I was related to someone in his family. He said he knew her and that she was pregnant in the time frame I was talking about. and that her brother only lived down the street from him and that he would talk to him for me and call me back!

He called me back on Wednesday. He had talked to my uncle, but he refused to discuss his sister's pregnancy.

Then he took a deep breath and said it was "possible" that he was my father and that he had been waiting for the other shoe to drop all these years.

He is going to try and get in touch with my birth mother's younger sister because she is more talkative than her brother. He will call me if he gets more information but doesn't want to go further than that.

I am hoping that once he has time to process my existence he will consider meeting me.

A very late update. The man in the above post was convinced I was his daughter but agreed to test. It confirmed that he is my father. I met him last June and last week we met in Florida where his brother lives and met a bunch of extended family.

The situation with my birth mother is unchanged. I was hoping for at least family medical history, but it is unlikely I will get it.

Video of me meeting my father for the first time if you are interested. https://youtu.be/KdTaGC9L0qs

Fantastic! Thank you for sharing. I have to admit that seeing the meeting made my eyes tear up.

The biological relatives you have found who do not want to acknowledge you, it could be they do not believe in dna, and therefore do not believe they are related to you.

My very educated 1st cousin does not believe in dna; but for him, it is his religious beliefs.

This is a new science many/most people do not understand and embrace at this point in time.

So happy for you. Thanks for sharing.
