  • Gedmatch - two questions like some clarification on - & siblings glaring difference?

1st I want to make sure I am understanding gedmatch properly.

The 4 oracle is 4 forefathers - you, your parents, grandparents yes?

I am wondering this as to my knowledge my parents / grandparents are utterly UK - Scottish, British & Irish with some vague French. With further distant European connections / relatives.

Yet in almost every 4 person count it's either widely European or half / half.

The 3rd populations approximation is what - most likely based connection between parents & distant grandparents???

    Now my second question

Gedmatch uses autosomal DNA so "sex" shouldn't matter.

So how do I calculate the "correctness" of a population / match given.

I mean with my FULL brother there's a noticeable difference in some of our populations. These are just basic examples below.

    Eurogenes K13

    Myself (female)
    Using 2 populations approximation:
    1 50% Orcadian +50% South_Dutch @ 1.913269

    Using 3 populations approximation:
    1 50% Danish +25% Norwegian +25% Spanish_Cataluna @ 1.489193

    Using 4 populations approximation:
    1 Danish + Danish + Norwegian + Spanish_Cataluna @ 1.489193

    Brother
    Using 2 populations approximation:
    1 50% Southeast_English +50% Southeast_English @ 5.264536

    Using 3 populations approximation:
    1 50% Southeast_English +25% Spanish_Cataluna +25% West_Scottish @ 4.579461

    Using 4 populations approximation:
    1 Spanish_Murcia + West_Scottish + West_Scottish + West_Scottish @ 4.195718

    K15 for another example

    Myself (female)
    Using 2 populations approximation:
    1 50% Irish +50% South_Dutch @ 1.693805

    Using 3 populations approximation:
    1 50% Irish +25% South_Dutch +25% South_Dutch @ 1.693805

    Using 4 populations approximation:
    1 Irish + South_Dutch + South_Dutch + Southeast_English @ 1.670787

    Brother
    Using 2 populations approximation:
    1 50% Southeast_English +50% Southeast_English @ 4.146230

    Using 3 populations approximation:
    1 50% Orcadian +25% Spanish_Murcia +25% West_Scottish @ 3.173761

    Using 4 populations approximation:
    1 Orcadian + Spanish_Murcia + West_Scottish + West_Scottish @ 3.074862

Do I sort of "cross reference" as you would and whatever matches on both is the most accurate or what?
Working...
