    What we have then, according to Dr. Macdonald's time frame and from Western Isles genealogy, is Scandinavian in nature. Which takes us right back to Black's notation of Norse Macneils.

    Since intercourse from Argyll to Ulster and back again predates history, it is not unreasonable to say that the same held true for the Isles and Scandinavians.

      The majority of the 200 Mesolithic sites found in Ireland are in the north east of Ireland which shows the links with Scotland from the end of the Ice-Age.
