    And they are.

    However!
    • There are at least seven (7) different tests that use different equipment and have very different schedules.
    • Batch is just a number assigned to the week the process started, and as mentioned above each type of the test has its own timeline.
    • The only common step is the extraction of DNA, but that is only for new samples; and even with that step some kits require that the extraction process is retried.
    • There are many hundreds of kits that start processing each week, those kits that need to be redone for whatever reason they do not stop the entire processing, so yes those who started later might finish sooner without anything being processed out of sequence.

I am not saying that communication could not be better! I am only providing the facts.

Yes. If there are delays, it is more than likely due to the quality of the sample itself and has nothing to do with FTDNA. They do the best they can with what you provide. Smokers, for example, sometimes need to re-swab up to a few times before the test will give good results.

On another note, I just got results for my mtDNA full sequence yesterday (5/14/18) afternoon, almost a month earlier than expected (6/11/18). Testing took about 3 weeks.

        Batch 841

I got my mtDNA Plus results last night, May 14, one week earlier than the expected 5-21-18 to 6-07-18 range of dates.

          Batch 844

Yeah, I just got the dreaded update delaying my full sequence mtdna a second time. It batched on 3/21. Now expected dates are 5/30-6/13.
Now I'm concerned that something was wrong with my sample.

                    Batch 844

I just heard back from FTDNA'S helpdesk.

"There was unfortunately a lab delay that caused this test to begin processing at a later date than normal, but your samples are currently running in the lab and testing should be completed within the next 3-4 weeks if the sample passes. At this time, the issue does not appear to be with the samples themselves, but a general lab delay."

I have two mtFullSequence tests currently pending:

                        Test #1:
                        Batched 2018-04-11 (Batch 850)
Expected 2018-06-06 to 2018-06-20 (this was pushed back 2 weeks)

                        Test #2:
                        Batched 2018-05-14 (Batch 859)
Expected 2018-07-09 to 2018-07-23 (pretty sure this wasn't the original expected date either)

                              Batch 847

Bummer. Another delay to 06/11/2018 - 06/25/2018 for my mt Full sequence and FF ordered as an upgrade March 31 from my years old Y 67 & mt HRV1/2 tests.

Delay after delay. I wonder if FTDNA has now more customers than they can handle...

And another 2 week delay to my mtDNA full seq batch 847. My FF from the same batch was finished more than a week ago...
