They have said in the past they have a backup generator that powers the entire building in the event of a power outage.

I've gotten a bunch of mtDNA and Y dna match mails yesterday, circa 3 weeks after I noticed the matches myself

Is this a manual process ? I hope not....

        • Anybody knows where bigY is currently at (batch number) with respect to results ?

For another, there can be delays in processing tests, for various reasons; among these are:
            • Insufficient sample
            • Sample that does not pass quality control, and needs to start process over
            • Lab delay (due to equipment failure, personnel shortage, large quantity due to holiday sales, etc.)
FTDNA has also suffered from poor communication with customers. Perhaps with the new owner (myDNA) some of these issues may improve.

You can check the "After I return the kit, how long will results take?" page in the FTDNA Learning Center to see if there are delays for any type of test. Currently that page shows that for Y-DNA (excluding Big Y), results are taking 7-9 weeks. In your case, that could be between 1 Feb. and 15 Feb. 2021. The date a sample is batched does not necessarily mean that the lab has started processing the test on that day, although it should be started then or shortly afterward. The same page in the Learning Center shows that Y-DNA tests (except for Big Y) usually take 3 to 6 weeks.

You may want to view the FTDNA Webinar "The Ideal Life of a Family Tree DNA Kit," from 2015. The part where a kit reaches the lab starts at 20:21.

Some questions about the test process are answered on the Learning Center page "FTDNA Test Process."
This is somewhat helpful. But I’m still waiting for my Y-DNA. #1162 was batched Jan 20 and still says it should be ready by the end of March. According to the Learning Center the Y-DNA delay is now down to 6-8 weeks which would be mid-March.

My father's test was in batch #1164 and it completed on the same day. No notification either.

                • I got the notification for #1162 today - a week and a half later after the results were posted.

                  • Waiting on a y37 in batch 1172. Been almost 2 months. Never had a y37 take that long before. They must really be behind.

My father's kit is in batch 1164 and I just got email that the results have passed quality control, but they can't upload results to his account because of technical problems. I have heard that many people have got the same message.

No. It's not mine but a relative's but I will be helping. I contacted Cust Serv and they are contacting the lab. Even that takes forever. They must be short on employees or something. They just had a merger last year with another company.

                            • Hello everyone. I'm waiting for results from batch 1192. Can someone who has recently received results provide their batch number? I'm eager to find out my results. Thank you in advance.

                              • I haven't had a single YDNA match in over a month. And I'm talking R1b 12 marker matches, usually every few days a couple show up. So either they are not or less testing, or there is a database error. On the other hand, the Big Y DNA results are coming in quite well. Did they shift staff from STR testing to Big Y testing ?
