        • Well, seems that not much changes at FTDNA. It wouldn't be a typical test experience if there wasn't at least one delay.

Batch 1042, BigY-700 expected results window first date was yesterday, so of course, today, I get a note that my results are delayed two weeks (at least) with the usual caveat that "the new date is an estimate based on volume and just whenever we feel like it".

Don't change a thing, FTDNA. When you're basically the only game in town, you can charge whatever you want and be as slow as you want.

          • I'm in Batch 1031/batched December 1st and am still waiting. I haven't received any kind of notification for the long wait.

            • I haven't quite figured out how to get them off high center. I've tried everything from nice, well thought out letters to swearing like a longshoreman at whatever hapless customer service rep answers the phone, with about equally negative results, namely a bland, tepid apology involving rigorous quality control and high sample volume. For what it's worth, swearing is by far the most personally satisfying...I mean, if you know going in that you're not going to get anything out of it anyway, might as well clear the air.

              • I'm in batch 1045, batched on December 30th. I got my FF results Jan. 9, and my 111 markers on Jan 23. I was supposed to get my Big Y results soon, but I just got a note saying it's delayed

This is a chronic problem with FTDNA. They need to go back to a model where a supervisor stands over the drones with a bullwhip until the work output improves. If the delay is due to the instruments, buy newer, faster ones. That's one of my main gripes with them: they never tell you exactly*why* they delay except some vague BS about quality control or high volume, but nothing ever changes.

I certainly wish they would let me know what is going on. If they're busy because of the holiday sales, that's fine and I can deal with that. What worries me is if the issue may be due to the sample quality, and I hope they don't request a new sample. I live in Japan, and Japanese international customs can be very stingy with regard to shipping biological material. Last December was literally my only chance to do the test because I was visiting family in the US for the holidays. If they ship another sample kit, I'll have to wait an entire year until I get another chance to take it!

                      • I'm waiting on results for two Big Y 700 kits in Batch 1042, that both had the "analyzing data" stage start on 12/23. The original estimate was mid-February to early March. Then it updated to early March to mid-March, and now it is 3/16-3/30.

It would be nice if we at least received emails when the kits were further delayed. I log in every couple of weeks to see if there has been a change. I'm hoping this newest estimate sticks :/

I have a Big-Y test in batch 1065 but that's still being listed as due for results in late April!! I'd love to understand what additional processing needs to take place, or where the resource bottle neck is for Big Y in this example.

BigY, and Y37 are very different products. STR processing is pretty quick, if you didn't have a Y111 panel previously, you should be seeing one very soon as they'll release that when done for BigY generally speaking. The rest of the Y700 and the SNP results will generally lag weeks or even months behind the Y111 results.
