My father was in Batch 924, but his kit was ordered in August, so given the advertised time frames they've given for Y700, in theory his results were supposed to be done today, even though Y500 wasn't "due" until the end of the month. (We were expecting it to get run twice on Y500, so we were previously predicting end of March/April)

His account now shows him as being Y700 instead of Y500, but aside from that change, nothing yet not even an estimated completion date. Not sure what, if anything that means at this stage.

    AWAITING TESTS
    Big Y-700 Y700 924

    Edit to add:
For the Y-700 upgrade recipients: (If you ordered before 1 November, your test results have to have been incomplete as of the end of January)
    Order Placed Results Expected By
    Before November 1, 2018 February 8, 2019
    November 2018 February 20, 2019
    December 1, 2018 to present March 6, 2019
I'm assuming that they actually meant "Order Placed/Test Batched" as My father's test demonstrates an edge case. I have doubts someone with a year old BigY test kit who mailed in their kit on January 1st of this year is going to get their results back this month.

    • This was an upgrade that was ordered in November, so the sample was already there, hence why it's in an earlier batch than your kit which was ordered in August which has the added time to get the kit to your father, get the actual sample and then to be received back at the lab and batched. We were initially told that the y500 results for Batch 919 were expected between 6th and 20th Feb. Y111 only took a couple of weeks.

Well, if FTDNA's chart that came with the Y700 Announcement pans out, you should have results in the advertised time frame. And I understand how their batching normally works, the whole "Order placed" phrasing rather than "Order batched" does leave ambiguity. Which is why I said it is possible some persons in later batches might see results earlier than others. Obviously for upgrades, like your test, Order Placed/Order Batched is typically no more than a week removed from each other. But for tests that were ordered before the sample arrived at FTDNA(or sample kits were even sent from FTDNA), the time lag between order placement and test batching could be weeks, months or even years. Mostly due to actions on the part of the person(s) holding the sample kit, not due to anything FTDNA did.

Owenc is in batch 930, and it appears he either hasn't received his results yet, hasn't shared getting them, or gave up on them turning up soon. They will email you shortly after the results come in.

But if Owenc is any indication, the YSTR test results may be getting delayed by the Y700 changeover. (And by delayed, I mean they're going to show up closer to their promised completion date, rather than the much earlier time frame others have been enjoying lately)

            • Yes, still waiting. Very frustrating.

                • You're Y-DNA 12 though? So would that not be part of a separate processing unit? My kit was batched on the 7th of January.

I am not even going to guess what FTDNA does with Y12 kits at this point, they stopped selling them some time ago.

One theory is that being Y12 they let his run to completion while everyone else(with currently available test kit options) was shifted to the Y700 process of STR testing even if they're not testing to that level. As one of the selling points was better, faster, and more reliable scoring on STR markers. Batch 930(or 929?) might be the first STR test kits to officially use the new process. Just bad staging on FTDNA's part on how they enacted the change and communicated it. (As a test that was days from completion being sent back through the process again isn't faster)

                      • Big Y700 batch 915 (14 Nov 2018) now expected 9-23 Jan 2019, which is odd as it’s gone back in time. I guess it might be a glitch.

I'm on the same batch # as you and have also been updated the same flawed estimate date.

Checking my father's it now shows:
                              Big Y-700 Y700 924 02/11/2019 - 02/25/2019
Which would be roughly consistent with a 6 to 8 week turnaround for the Y700 test results that they're now advertising. (about 8 or 9 weeks after his test was batched, haven't bothered to count it out, he batched on 12/17)

As to your estimated completion date being in the past, their automated(and manual!) processes probably are sill playing catch up on the retro-active order changes and their automated system that announces your results have been delayed by 2 weeks hasn't fired just yet.... And may not fire without manual intervention given your completion dates are in the past.

                                Thanks - that makes sense.
